Booker Creek Park – Clean Up!
Saturday, January 21th, 2012 • 8 a.m. till Noon
Meet at the Picnic Pavilions on the North side of the lake • 13th Ave. & 23rd. St. N.

The park is located in North Kenwood Neighborhood Association just north of the Ed White Hospital and south of 13th Ave. N., and is a beautiful neighborhood park with lots of public amenities for us to use with a playground, picnic pavilions, restrooms, fishing piers and a wonderful walking trail. It is a great place to see lots of wild life and enjoy a little time in an oasis right in our back yards. We are asking you to come out and partner with Historic Kenwood on this effort to help the city clean up the shore area of trash and debris to keep this treasure looking nice.

The city will be providing hand pickers, trash bags, waders and other equipment to help give the park a spruce-up to keep it looking good. We will be concentrating on getting trash and debris off the shore line area so chances are we will be getting dirty and a bit wet in the process. Please make sure to wear appropriate clothes and footwear for possibly sloshing around in the muck and water.

We will meet up on Saturday, January 21st at 8:00 a.m. on the North side of the park at the picnic pavilions. Crews and equipment will be assigned at that time. We hope to finish up around 11:30 and then have some picnic food available at the pavilion for those who participate.

Historic Kenwood will be providing food and beverages for all that participate to make sure we are rewarded for our efforts, but you will have to be dirty to get refreshments.

Since we will be working around the shores edge and around the wildlife that is there, we ask that you not bring your pets or small children to this event for safety purposes. We don’t want dogs chasing the birds and critters or small children falling in the water. Come join us and get the word out that we want to help keep our city looking great.

Please come out and support your neighborhood park and wear your neighborhood shirt if you have one.

Breakfast and informal conversation with Mayor Bill Foster are the order of the day when “Breakfast with the Mayor” visits IHOP located at 4199 34th Street S. St. Petersburg on Wednesday, November 23rd at 7:00 a.m. Everyone is invited to stop by IHOP ask questions or share what’s on their mind while supporting the restaurant with a breakfast purchase.
